Purchasing

Buying what the site needs — purchase requirements raised when stock is short, the purchase orders placed with suppliers, the supplier's delivery dates (every revision kept), shipments, and the exceptions when goods arrive damaged or late.

Its central question:

We need this part — has it been ordered, from whom, and when will it actually arrive?

It is a member of the Work & Supply network. When Inventory cannot reserve a part, Purchasing raises a purchase requirement automatically and Work Management's material requirement shows its PR-… number; each change to the supplier's delivery date updates the date Work expects the part.
